When it comes to changes in the world of online bingo, we have seen quite a few in our time. The latest is the age verification at the new site, Blighty Bingo.
More Blighty Bingo News
This new bingo brand launched just a few weeks ago, and after our initial look around, we chose to make a deposit and take full advantage of their welcome bonus and the fact that it carries no wagering requirements.
When making our first deposit and availing ourselves of the £70 free tickets for the next Guaranteed Win game and ten free spins, we noticed something in the cashier.
In the bottom left-hand corner, in the navigational menu, under ‘More’ was a red exclamation. On clicking it, we presented a notice that said, ‘Your account will get blocked in three days. There were two options – New Deposit or Verify Now.
Verifying Your Account At Blighty Bingo
When opting for ‘Verify Now,’ you can enter your driving licence or passport number. You get shown which numbers from either option were required, as highlighted in yellow in the examples.
You can’t bypass this tool. You either have to enter one of the two options or contact support to see what other options are available. Luckily we had both options and chose to enter our passport numbers. Our account was then automatically verified, and no further action was required.
No Passport, No Licence – What Then?
We tried to find alternatives for players who do not have either form of ID but are awaiting confirmation from Bingo Support. Unfortunately, when we tried calling, we were on hold for quite some time before eventually giving up.
It could be that we will see this feature at new sites launching on the Dragonfish Bingo network in the future, but currently, we’ve only seen it with Blighty Bingo. We are guessing that the UK Gambling Commission drives Age Verification and that all online bingo rooms must know their players. What this means is basically that all players must be verified.
This Age Verification will eventually be essential for all UK bingo rooms.
